cycle II takes inspiration from vast waterscapes and the fluid motion of winds, exploring a broad spectrum of articulations possible on the flute. Inspired by the consonances of a brief French poem, the piece employs lyrical phrasing and dynamic shifts in timbre to capture the vivid, fleeting imagery of the text. Through its evolving colors and textures, the work brings to life the poem’s rapid transformations and expressive nuances.

augur is a visionary work expressing our current zeitgeist. The title refers to the avian diviners in ancient Rome. The task of these priests was to perceive the will of the gods from the flight of birds. Similarly, augur by Lemay aims to both predict and remember. For instance, snatches of themes and harmonies from Dvořák's Symphony 7 (a work that, like augur, is the expression of a turbulent zeitgeist), echo in her music. But augur, alongside all the difficulties we face today, also foreshadows many positive evolutions. Turbulence and serenity therefore find a harmonious balance.

Noir is a marimba solo that elicits a sense of melancholy and darkness through its rich, eerie harmonies. The piece creates a somber atmosphere, blending brooding, introspective moments with subtle rhythmic complexity, crafting a charged journey of reflection and contemplation.
